Creating Economy by Design is the fifth issue of The Design Guide for Aim High Publishing. Andrea Stevens researched, curated, produced and edited 12 local and international design features for the bi-annual publication.
A sample of what we wrote:
"With each issue of the Design Guide, we investigate a current theme in architecture through a collection of insightful and innovative case studies. Architects and designers write about their work, discussing the various design constraints and opportunities brought about by the site and its context, the brief and budget, the materials and technology, and, not least, the culture in which the house is built.
"Our last issue was on urban housing, where we saw architects creating high-quality living environments at higher density. In this issue, we investigate economy in residential architecture, looking at how careful design can lead to innovations – building more with less, creating smaller but more interesting spaces, making houses simple but smart – and how industrial materials might be used to create homes that are robust, yet comfortable."
