Project case studies
for THE DESIGNERS INSTITUTE OF NEW ZEALAND
The Best Design Awards feature the top projects from 8 different design categories. Each year, we write the case study text for the Purple and Black Pins winners. The copy provides a short and insightful narrative about each project.
A sample of what we wrote:
Two New Zealand designers were the creative force behind a new short film for The Woolmark Company. Gareth O’Brien and Lucas Brooking of Buck’s Sydney studio have developed The Innovator, a character-driven animation used around the world to promote Australian merino wool.
The Goodnature A24 trap and new Automatic Lure Pump are set to transform predator control in New Zealand. The system will not only slash the labour costs of trapping by up to 90 per cent, but is also the most effective trap used to date by the Department of Conservation. And if that’s not impressive enough, it does it all without using poisons.
We usually hear about digital disruption, but the card-based Game of Awesome is busy disturbing classrooms around the country . . . with laughter. Thanks to some cool and crazy ideas from students, design agency Chrometoaster and the Ministry of Education have designed a game that ignites the imagination and scaffolds kids into reading and writing.
